  • Your adventure begins as we depart Greenock Cruise Terminal, heading towards the breathtaking landscapes of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

Our first stop is Luss, a charming conservation village on the banks of Scotland’s most famous loch. With its pretty cottages and stunning lochside views, Luss offers the perfect introduction to Scotland’s beauty. Take time to stroll along the waterfront, enjoy the peaceful scenery from Luss Pier, or browse the small selection of independent shops before we continue our journey.

From here, we travel onwards to Helensburgh, where the town is transformed for one of Scotland’s most exciting cultural events—the Helensburgh & Lomond Highland Games. On arrival, the unmistakable sound of pipes and drums welcomes you to a thrilling showcase of strength, skill, and tradition. The Games begin with a grand opening ceremony led by the Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, setting the scene for a truly unforgettable experience.

Your games ticket is included and with over four and a half hours to explore, you’ll have plenty of time to immerse yourself in the action and soak up the festival atmosphere. Witness the Heavy Events, where competitors showcase their strength and skill in caber tossing, hammer throwing, and shot put—some of the most iconic tests of Highland athleticism. Enjoy the grace and precision of the Highland dancing competitions, or cheer on runners as they take on the sprints, relays, and the gruelling Hill Race.

Beyond the sporting contests, take a stroll through the craft and trade stalls, where local artisans offer handmade goods and Scottish keepsakes, or indulge in a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors, serving up everything from traditional Scottish fare to lighter bites.

As with all outdoor events in Scotland, the weather can be unpredictable, so it’s important to come prepared. You may experience warm sunshine, cool breezes, or the occasional rain shower—all in the same day! A waterproof layer and comfortable, sturdy footwear are recommended, as the Games take place on a grassy field with no paved pathways. While the ground is relatively flat, those using wheelchairs or mobility scooters should be aware that conditions can vary, particularly if there has been wet weather in the days leading up to the event.

After a day filled with Scottish heritage, music, and competition, we’ll make our way back to Greenock, ensuring you arrive at the cruise terminal comfortably over an hour before your ship’s scheduled departure.

  • For any shore excursion in Scotland, preparation is key to enjoying your adventure comfortably. Our weather is famously changeable, so checking the forecast and dressing in layers is essential:

    • Light base layer

    • Sweater or fleece

    • Waterproof jacket

Comfortable shoes are also a must, as many destinations feature cobbled streets, rugged trails, or castle grounds that require footwear capable of handling different types of uneven surface.

While many places accept cards, having a bit of cash on hand can be helpful.

A small backpack is useful for carrying essentials like snacks, extra clothing, and any souvenirs you may pick up along the way.

Finally, don’t forget to bring a camera or smartphone to capture all those sights on your excursion with us!
