  • Your day ashore begins as we depart Invergordon and a journey towards our first stop, Clava Cairns. These are a collection of mysterious stone burial cairns over 4,000 years old. Set amidst beautiful Highland scenery, this tranquil spot offers an incredible insight into the lives of Scotland’s earliest inhabitants - much of which is surrounded in mystery and speculation - making it a unique and memorable start to your adventure.

Next, we journey to the Culloden Battlefield, the site of the tragic end of the 1746 Jacobite rebellion. Here, you can stand on the very ground where the famous Battle of Culloden took place, visit the interactive visitor centre, and see memorial stones marking the fallen clans—a deeply moving experience that brings Scottish history to life. There is an entrance fee for the exhibits within the visitors centre, however, you can walk the battlefield for free.

Then, it’s on to Cawdor Castle, an enchanting 14th-century fortress steeped in real-life history and legend. Although famously linked to Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the castle’s true story is tied to the powerful Clan Campbell. Originally built as a private fortress it has been expanded and preserved over generations, and today it is a stunning home for the Lady of Cawdor. The Castle showcases beautifully maintained rooms filled with historic family treasures, antique furnishings, and artwork. The surrounding gardens, some of which date back to the 17th century, offer vibrant seasonal displays and serene walks. Enjoy lunch at the castle café, soaking in the timeless Highland atmosphere and exploring this genuine piece of Scotland’s storied past

Our final destination is Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. With up to two hours of free time, you can explore city highlights like the Victorian Market, Inverness Castle - which has stood watch over the city since the 11th century - and the scenic River Ness. Enjoy a leisurely walk, discover local shops, or simply take in the vibrant charm of this Highland hub.

After a day immersed in Highland history and stunning scenery, you'll head back to port with lasting memories of Scotland's beauty and charm.

  • For any shore excursion in Scotland, preparation is key to enjoying your adventure comfortably. Our weather is famously changeable, so checking the forecast and dressing in layers is essential:

    • Light base layer

    • Sweater or fleece

    • Waterproof jacket

Comfortable shoes are also a must, as many destinations feature cobbled streets, rugged trails, or castle grounds that require footwear capable of handling different types of uneven surface.

While many places accept cards, having a bit of cash on hand can be helpful.

A small backpack is useful for carrying essentials like snacks, extra clothing, and any souvenirs you may pick up along the way.

Finally, don’t forget to bring a camera or smartphone to capture all those sights on your excursion with us!
